Paul Whaley

I am a researcher, consultant, and academic editor based at Lancaster Environment Centre in the UK, working on systematic approaches to mapping and synthesising scientific evidence for assessing and managing health risks posed by exposure to chemical substances.

I specialise in development of research standards, critical appraisal tools, and strategic interventions to raise the standard of published research, and my work has been recognised for its impact on regulation and research practice.

I have recently begun research into machine learning and artificial intelligence methods as a means of utilising systematic methodologies at the same time as responding to policy-makers demands for wide-ranging, yet accurate and fast, reviews of decision-critical scientific evidence.
